Israelis Ambushed and Attacked by Terrorists on the High Seas

Link: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3896796,00.html

Last night, Israeli soldiers were brutally and forcefully attacked by Palestinian-sympathizing terrorist groups who were trying to smuggle weapons to Gaza.  Video footage shows that Israeli soldiers, who were only armed with paintball guns, were punched, stabbed, kicked, and beaten with iron bars – and does not give rise to further questions on the culpability of either party.  Even the notorious propaganda television station, Al-Jazeera admits that the so-called “flotilla” was illegally attempting to infiltrate the Israeli blockade of Gaza, giving the solidiers no choice but to board to prevent an invasion of Israeli territory.

Once on board, the terrorists made no secret about their plans to kill these innocent Jews, who were tasked with defending their beloved homeland.  According to one reliable source, they chanted “Death to Israel” upon seeing Israeli soldiers and chanted Islamic battle cries encouraging the massacre of Jews.

Some people think that Israel might have overreacted in this situation.  I beg to differ.  Given the impending invasion of Israeli territory, there was no other choice.  In fact, Israel acted with great restraint, as any other nation might have torpedoed the ships, sending the passengers to a watery grave.

It sickens me to see even the best and brightest to decry Israel as a state of oppression, where innocent people are sent to be tortured. This is not the case. Israel has the best human rights record of any nation, as the Jews are humble people who are trying the best to strive for peace in tough times.  Anyone who speaks otherwise is a serpent, a deceiver, a betrayer, a liar: he speaks with a tongue of wanting, a tongue of jealousy, or a tongue of manipulation, speaking with the tongue of bigotry.  To hate Israel is to hate it’s people, for Israel is not just a country but the fruition of the will of the Jewish people.  Israel is not just a land in the desert, my friends. Israel is the Jewish people.

When you heap your scorn and hatred upon Israel, you unconsciously malign the Jewish people.  Some people think that they are “doing the right thing” by speaking for the so-called Palestinian people (which I will discuss in a moment), but they are in fact not doing the right thing.  These people hate Israel because they are Anti-Semitic. Why?  We need look no further than a man by the name of Hussein al-Amin, the an Arab religious cleric from “Palestine” who was a friend of Hitler – and who called upon his followers to “Murder the Jews!”.

Why does this Anti-Semitism take root? One reason is that Christians see Jesus as being crucified by the Jews. But who sent Jesus to death? Pontius Pilate: a white male. Who crucified Jesus? The Romans–white men. Christians, ironically enough, misdirect their hate to the Jews, when it is them who themselves they should be hating for crucifying Christ! Centuries of this defamation have darkened the plight of the Jewish people, but there is no hate towards the gentiles as Jews are here to be guiding people, not rodents of revenge. Another fact is that Jews are, traditionally, very successful people. I believe this is undeniable; Jews have a natural appetite for success, and can be found everywhere in the arts and sciences. Jealousy erupts from this, and racists hate the innocent Jew because of individual shortcomings. Many will not be fully aware of these feelings, but it is important to understand that anti-Israel sentiment spawns from envy.

Of course when anybody is attacked, they have the right, if not the duty to strike back.  Young children are destroyed by the Palestinian people often, and the peaceful Jewish people live in fear of the next attack.  Any footage of Jewish atrocities is taken out of context by bigoted sources wishing to spread anti-Semitic sentiment. Israel is a friend of the world’s, and has helped the United States of America see the cruelty of the Saddam regime and the terrorism of the Afghan people by lobbying for war against these malevolent worms. With these dictator-states gone, democracy reigns free in Arabic lands for the first time.

Jews are good people: I should know, as I am one of them. Every time I hear plebeian speech such as, “We need to stop supporting Israel,” I feel stereotyped; I know I am a sensitive human being just like you people of African, European, or Asian. When derogative remarks are made against my people I feel my kindness is undeserving. But this is a transient feeling, natural in all humans. I quickly come to my senses and understand that if the uneducated are having envy against Jews, I must treat them the way I want to be treated and perhaps show them the light, the light that shines upon the Jewish people and radiates our love and our essence which is none to dissimilar to yours. Israel and the Jewish people are inseparable; Israel’s borders may come and go, but never our heart and soul.

Today is Everybody Draw Mohammed (YShV) Day

Today was a celebration of Free Speech.  Today, we stood as one, refusing to allow the forces of religious bigotry to mow us down with bullets of hate or bombs of malice.  Our resolve will not be lessened by religious bigots who do not understand basic human rights.  The right to question dogma and the right to be free from religion.

In celebration of Draw Mohammed (YShV) day, several members of our Students for Israel club, the LGBTQI club, and Atheist club (and a few others,Iforget at the moment), drew some pictures.  As an assistant professor, I also gave extra credit to anyone in my class who made a picture.  (One Muslim was upset that I did such a thing, but given that Muslims are anti-Jewish, who is he to complain?)  We then drove to the local mosque and posted them across the street from the mosque (on public property so they couldn’t do anything about it).  Consider this a test of tolerance; if the Muslims were willing to accept what we had done and not resort to violence, or calling the police to “shut us up,” then they passed.  Well, it goes without saying that they failed miserably.

Anyways, I’ll have today’s pictures scanned and put up here in the near future.  In the meantime, you can click over here to enjoy some older pictures!

Racist Whites-Only Club Bought out by Synagogue

Links:

This is great news.  As someone of Jewish descent myself, I find myself somewhat smirking at the grand irony that a racist swim club, probably owned by racist White Christians, has now been bought out by Jewish people and is owned by a synagogue.  Many of my friends also appreciated this zesty irony; and thought that it would have only been slightly better had it been garnished by banning Whites – giving the discriminators a taste of their very own poison medicine that they attempted to shove down the throats of others!

There is never any excuse for racism.  All people are created equal, without exception.  What happened at this swim club should be a stark reminder to any person or organization who are unwilling to abide by these laws.  The people who were forced out of the doors of this club were mere children, once so innocent and full of optimism.  When they were refused entry to the club, possibly forced to sit on the sidewalk, their wet bodies shivering in the cold air, the reality of a racist system must have come crashing down onto them.  How horrible it must have felt to be sitting on that sidewalk, rejected because of the mere color of your skin, forced into a submissive posture just because you didn’t look like someone else?

Well, fortunately a few well-meaning people started the wheels rolling.  The club was hit with a lawsuit from the U.S Justice Department and a state Human Relations Commission investigation, and eventually went bankrupt from having to pay legal fees.  That culminated in the purchase of the club and its facilities by the a local synagogue.  And I must say, for 10.5 acres, it was a good deal – seeing as a single acre of undeveloped land can cost around 1 million dollars in Philadelphia!

Let this be a message to racists and discriminators everywhere.  If you discriminate, you might get away with it once or twice.  But remember that hate has consequences.  Eventually you will be caught and punished.  This is the 21st century, and it’s time that you started living in it!

A Genocidal Muslim Hatemonger Exposed!

A Muslim Jew-hater and supporter of genocide is flushed out by David Horowitz!

Although David Horowitz is conservative and I am the polar opposite on more than a few social issues, I support his stance on Israel 110%.  The Jewish people, who suffered so much during the Holocaust are now being exterminated by the Arabs.  Israeli territories are occupied by a foreign people called the Palestinians, who fire thousands of missiles a day at Israeli schools, hospitals, synagogues, and old folk’s homes, for no other reason than the fact that Israel is the only Jewish state in the world.  These people want Israel to hand over its land through devious, uncouth methods such as murder, rape, and genocide, yet cry when Israel defends itself.

All four of my grandparents died in the Holocaust.  As a Jew, I know the feeling of persecution.  But today, the Jewish people have arisen to cry out “Never Again” – never again will the Jewish people be rounded up into cattle cars and shipped off to places with names that ring with the stark echoes of death like Auschwitz, Birkenau, Majdanek, or Buchewald.  “Never Again” shall the Jews be shoved into gas-chambers, pounding on doors asking to be let out, only to die awful, horrible deaths at the hands of their German tormentors!—  Never Again!

Please tell your Senator or Congressman to keep the money flowing to Israel so that Israel can continue to defend itself against these hate-filled murderers.

NEVER AGAIN!

Self-Actualization

I was sitting at my desk today, occupied a very difficult crossword puzzle, when I began to contemplate the nature of what it means to be human.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows us how to get to our full potential.

Not just a simple human being, but a contributor to wider society, as not just a walking empty body, but a voice in a choir that contributes to a beautiful song that all ears deserve to hear, regardless of economic status or race.

One important philosophy that is neglected in schools where young minds learn and grow – one that is potentially ignored due to racial reasons, but I am not one to accuse – is Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. A brilliant philosopher on par with Immanuel Kant or the great Karl Popper, Maslow illuminated the truth behind the birth of a human being as a thinking, contributing entity. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, he shows us that humans have certain needs that must be met in order for the individual to radiate brilliance, much like that Dr. MacHattan, in, I believe the recent movie is called, The Scotchmen.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs can be thought of as a grand pyramid, where the human sojourner climbs from the bottom to the top, reaching incremental stages of growth until his highest potential is reached. If one cannot have one level of the pyramid met, then such a person would be stunted and stuck on his or her path to mental enlightenment.

On the very bottom pillar, the very basics of human needs must be meet in a person’s journey towards greatness. These include the necessities, such as food, water, and shelter. In addition, a person must have plenty of oxygen in order to breathe, and not to mention a proper place to evacuate one’s bowels without mucking up the vicinity. Without these, a person remains as a victim, a victim of elitist Adam Smith types with no concern for human dignity. We can see that many in the third world go without these basic necessities deserved by all, and as such places are usually in Sub-Saharan Africa, one with a discerning mind can quite easily understand the plot of the economic elite in shutting down the very core aspect of the underprivileged minority, in his or her uniqueness and culture.

Rising up this fantastic mountain of philosophical ingenuity, we come to the next stage of humanity: the need for morality, stability, and health, among other things, in the grand scale of this stage. Moral people who recognize it as a categorical imperative to treat each and every human with respect, without bigotry, without slander, and especially without harboring an all-encompassing hatred of a group of people despite superstitious beliefs implanted by those with nefarious agendas. Here, the individual has a stable foundation of his wider placement in life, to live life liberally, for the good of himself, and for the good of all people.

And climbing up – like a rugged mountain man or woman traversing the path to human potential, all-the-while dodging the falling boulders of slimy bigotry – are the two upper steps for the last: friendship, family, sexuality, respect by others, respect for others, and confidence in one’s own unique abilities. Here is where the human begins his first few steps into achieving a higher state of mind, where his passion for others changes him from a greedy, capitalistic reactionary, into a diversity-accepting, racially tolerant people person. The individual becomes an open-minded revolutionary, making new friends of unlike people, and respects others of different statuses.

One thing that I believe, personally, is the importance of human sexuality, at this stage: the individual becomes more open to the grander scheme of things, and no longer sees race as a barrier to be overcome, but as one to openly embrace. One begins to seek sexual partners of different colors and creeds, to learn from and grow, like a flower blooming for the first time. The moment black and white merge to form not gray, but a rainbow of thought and passion, mixing and merging and mashing and forming a gestalt where the sum of both races/creeds exceeds to sum of its parts.

Separate, we are weak, but together, far stronger than even the atomic bonds of a molecule. When we look into the eyes of a child, of diverse heritage, we see the beginning of a truly self-actualized human being, who can transcend the bigotry of his day and age by being the product of two great heritages, than simply one.

In addition, one unrelated to the deeply important cultural role, is the very specific need of human power. Not one based upon bigotry and larceny, but one based on surrendering trust to another human being. My friend, Chet, a very intelligent man who understands the deep importance of a liberal society, is a fan of what he calls “BDSM.” BDSM, which stands for Bondage, Domination, Sadism, and Masochism, tells me about how we can channel our naturally greedy human impulses into a positive sexual force where the outcome becomes trust and not evil manipulation. BDSM involves surrendering one’s egotistical desires, so I am told, in an intimate sexual ritual where both parties come out stronger and more tolerant of humanity of a whole. Or so my dear friend Chet proclaims, but it would be mean-spirited to disbelieve him. This is important in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, as trust is a deeply important facet of the human condition. Such is lacking in our bigoted, slanderous society of those who malign the underprivileged.

So now that we have discussed everything important regarding of who we are, as people, as humans, we finally reach the top of the great triangle. This is morality, creativity, and our very utter lack of prejudice against ALL human beings. Excepting, of course, those who wish to push us down the pyramid like a racist bully pushing an African-American child down a steep hill. This is where we, if we are white, surrender our racist instincts into looking at other races as equals, as people to respect and love like any other. Or, if we are, perhaps, Black, Asian, Latino/Latina, or whatnot, we see each other as comrades against the forces which seek to destroy us. All of us – from black, white, and especially Jew – understand the necessity of forming morality to fit a wide frame of thought, one all encompassing as to prohibit bigotry, thus see all human beings as equal, and recognize the racist folly of focusing solely on our own kind, merge with others unlike us, so that we may, one day ( I hope! ) be One instead of many.

When one understands and has all the needs that are necessary to be not just a human, but something more, is when justice has been served. One day there will be more than just random stragglers reaching self-actualization, but entire societies, one by one, until all of humanity becomes strengthened and embolden with the love for one another where no longer one single person is important, but each and every human being.

Our potential will be unlimited in equality and in sacrificing our excesses for the sake of others. If we shake off our greed, bigotry, and misconceptions, then we can truly rise as a species, and be what a human was to a neanderthal. And as I finished my crossword puzzle while contemplating this, I could only think of it as either ironic or fate that the final word I needed to write in was “acceptance.”

Why the Belgians are Right

Recently, the people of Belgium decided to ban one of the worst symbols of religious intolerance, sexism, and objectification of women in the world, the burka.  I, for one, think that this is completely proper, and a step towards religious inclusion and tolerance.  The burka is out of place in a secular, progressive and liberal environment – an environment which all nations of the world must strive towards.  Given the European struggle against the influence of the tyranny of the Catholic Church, it also makes sense that the Europeans would not stand for Islamic extremists attempting to throw Europe back to the Dark Ages, any more than they’d tolerate dark and sinister forces like Opus Dei who try to do the same.  In fact, I might go so far as to saying that the European Union needs to ban public display of organized religion altogether.

I am not for closing off Europe to the world.  Indeed, just as I’d warmly welcome immigrants who enrich the savory melting pot of America into my nation, I would hope that the Europeans would too.  Immigration should never – and I emphasize never – be about “race” or the color of one’s skin, but the desire to live among equals in a liberal democracy.

What is truly ironic is that Islamic extremists will say that this is a violation of personal freedoms.  Belgium, which ranks among the most free nations in the world according to many illustrious organizations such as Freedom House and Amnesty International, is actually the place where Muslim women have the most freedom.  A Muslim woman in Belgium has the right to live without fear, is entitled to gender equality, can take a job, is free to wear anything from a bikini to a business suit, and can openly announce apostasy.  She can drive her own car, get a divorce if she pleases, or become a Marxist because of the political freedoms that Belgium gives her.  None of this is possible in places like Saudi Arabia or Iran, where women are beaten for dressing ‘inappropriately,’ consigned to being housewives, murdered for apostasy, or executed for sympathizing with worker’s rights.

As I illuminate in my previous article, it is society itself which determines the rules of society, and society is greater than the individual.  Do those clerics who insist on the oppression of women truly with to bring out the consciousness of humanity as a whole, which includes all humans, and place restrictions in its interpretation?  When we live in a society we make our own rules and abide by them first and then to realize god we practice religion which again is realizing other humans, animals and existence in general. If we are against the same society of which we are a product of what does it show?  Ultimately, one has to learn to live in tune with society and so when the legislation has been passed one has to learn to adjust wih that instead of bringing out personal religious practices outside the self as every self has their own religions.

The burka is a symbol of mysogynistic oppression against females. It symbolizes that a woman’s body is somehow sinful and evil; and that they must hide it so they do not corrupt the men, who just cannot help themselves. In other words, women are responsible for making men sin.  These ideas violate the very idea of gender equality.  So, the burka cannot be about freedom. It’s about fighting backwards religious mysogyny and gender discrimination by people who are hiding behind freedom as an excuse to oppress others.  Justifying the burka as freedom would be like re-implementing slavery in America on the basis of so-called “property rights”.

Every decent person should be applauding Belgium for standing up for women’s rights, and the right of all people to be free from religion.  Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if that religion is Christianity or Islam; if religion is a personal choice it belongs in the home, not on public streets or walkways.

What the Islamofascists should realize is that, instead of controlling others, they need to work towards the collective interests of humankind – towards enlightenment of all people that we are all committed towards by virtue of existence.

Below, I’ve linked to an article by the excellent French philosopher, Bernard-Henri Lévy, who does a great job of explaining the situation.  In case you’re wondering who Dr. Lévy is, I’ve also included a blurb about him:

Why I Support a Ban on Burqas by Bernard-Henri Lévy

About Mr. Levy

After attending the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris, Lévy enrolled in the elite and highly selective École Normale Supérieure in 1968, from which he graduated with a degree in philosophy. Some of his professors there included prominent French intellectuals and philosophers Jacques Derrida and Louis Althusser. Lévy is also a pre-eminent journalist, having started his career as a war reporter for Combat, the famous underground newspaper founded by Camus during the Nazi occupation of France.

Returning to Paris, Lévy became famous as the young founder of the New Philosophers (Nouveaux Philosophes) school which advocated some reforms for Marxism and Socialism. He is also a signatory to the Manifesto: Together Facing the New Totalitarianism, along with other prominent figures like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Irshad Manji, Caroline Fourest,

Hiding Behind the Constitution

I’m sure you’ve all seen it before.  Someone’s done something wrong in the public eye and gets caught.  It could be a senator who’s embezzled millions from the electorate, or some foul-mouthed Southern gun nut drunkenly discharging his firearms in public.  When they get brought in or arraigned on charges, they might scream, “Hey! What about my rights?!”

The KKK, a notorious American hate group engages in a hate rally

In America, nowhere is this now more evident than in the roving gangs of (often armed) thugs who stubbornly riot against any decision by President Obama.  They might claim, despite their propensity for violence, that they are only engaging in their “First Amendment rights”.  Now I find it ironic that people whose hero claimed that the Constitution was a “damn piece of paper” want to use the Constitution when it suits them, but let’s look a bit more closely at these claims:

A democracy cannot flourish without democratic-minded individuals participating in the system with maturity, each one weighing both sides (left and right) with reasoned inner debate until a logical choice is arrived at.  Our system (who can claim it as his own?) is not one of tyranny; it rightly lies on the good of human nature as it’s foundation.  Who is more qualified to rule The People than The People themselves?  Is it not true that people are, in general, good-hearted? Is it not true that only a few bad apples spoil the bunch?  And, verily, is it not confirmed that these bad apples have been responsible for racism and the loss of liberty?  These bad apples whom I condemn as maligners look out merely for their own interests.  This cannot be allowed in a democracy; without the individual looking out for the good of the whole, the entire system collapses into bickering, strife, bigotry, intolerance, and hate.
